Networking Event

SM Columbia Basin will be having a networking event on Tuesday September 11, 2018 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Applebee’s in Kennewick. This event will involve watching short YouTube videos on soft skills and discussing them as groups with the intent to learn about how to better network and interact. The videos will be entertaining and informative as Kyle Root guides us through the short activities. The event starts at 5:30 p.m. and the activity will start at 6:00 p.m. and end at 7:00 p.m. The event will be held at Applebee’s on Columbia Center Blvd. in Kennewick at no cost to you, with the exception of any food or drinks that you order. The format will be introvert friendly, so please join us.

2018 Careers in Manufacturing

ISM-CB member Lance Stephen  has asked our membership for suggestions and interest in participation. Contact Lance directly with your ideas.

I would like to ask the ISM chapter a question. For the past 3 years we have put on an event called Careers in Manufacturing (CiM). This year, the event is in combination with the 2nd Tri City Connect (Oct 2/3). Our goal for this event is to make sure young persons are aware of the myriad of career options that do not require a 4 year degree. The grassroots group we have is an outstanding conglomeration of positive people and entities. In fact this year’s event has been super-charged with Brian’s help in getting Lamb Weston involved. To give you a feel of the event, I am forwarding our last team notes below.

Now to the point – our company who was helping design a Supply Chain station has had to pull out. Before we remove supply chain as a station for this event, I wanted to ask ISM if you had any ideas for how we could still do a simple Supply chain station.

In summary, a station is an interactive location where we can engage kids and tell them what the career path is – the more hands-on the better. A station should be engaging and informative (not a job fair, more a community service to make young adults aware of these careers).

Please feel free to send any questions my way. If you would like, you are welcome to attend the next CiM meeting (TRIDEC Sep 6, 4:00). The Tri City Connect event is further described below:

Thanks for the consideration!

2018-2019 ISM-CB Board of Directors

Participating in a leadership role on the board is not only a great way to expand your knowledge of the operations of our local association, but also to further network with purchasing professionals in our area. The idea of an additional commitment can be a little scary with our busy lives and schedules, but in reality, most of the time, the commitment is limited to a single meeting for an hour and half each month outside of the regular dinner meeting.

If you have a desire to participate, but can’t commit to a regular time schedule, please let us know and we can accommodate you and help you build on your career goals and objectives.

Please contact any member of our leadership team to discuss how you can get involved.
